Period & swimming??
Question: When ever I swim while using a tampon the tampon just absorbes all of the pool water and causes the blood to just come out. How can I prevent this? I know the obvious solution is to not swim, but I'm on a swim team and have practice or meets 5 times a week.
Answers: Well... maybe you aren't inserting the tampon properly. When inserted properly they're too far in there for them to absorb pool water. Your vagina doesn't just swallow pool water, it really shouldn't be getting in there at all.
Maybe you just aren't using a tampon with a high enough absorbancy for your flow and are just bleeding through them.
Maybe you need to change it more often during practice.
you might not be putting it in far enough but if you are, then there are always menstrual cups that you put up there and dump it after awhile and rinse it and put it back in, they are reusable so they cost about $30 i think though
I used to have that happen to me too. Did you try a higher absorbency maybe? Or you may have to change it out a lot more often. You could also look at the boxes and see if there is a better type for swimmers. They have so many different types of tampons now.
Try a different brand. I've found Tampax to be long and narrow, and tends to leak more. Playtex are a little shorter and wider and expand better to protect. Also, make sure it's pushed in far enough. It really shouldn't be sticking out of you to a point where it can absorb the pool water.
Well it depends wat kinda tampon ur using.. Well i recommend u use Playtex Sport ... I understand u ALOT bc i do swim 5 dayz a week ((swim team)) && it suckx when i have it, but u want to get into the water & have fun..
Well anyways the tampon has 180 degree meaning when u move around it wont bother u. So when u do ur different strokes its good ((like the brest or free)).
P.S;; When u get in the water & swim awhile, ur period stops. So dont really worry about that.
....Hoped i helped =)...
The water should cause the tampon to expand so the blood doesnt come out. Try a different brand and a higher absorbancy. Different tampons are shaped differently and may make a better fit. Good luck.
