From your state's website, you should be able to select a search for all practitioners (physicians and otherwise) who have been reprimanded, put on probation, or who have had any action taken against their licenses and exactly why this happened. This is a very interesting website; my students use it in their research.
You can call the local BBB in your town, or American Medical Association.
