When will AIR/O2 OPTIX for Astigmatism parameters be expanded with cylinder power of -1.75 D??
Question: Finally, these lenses have been released in Europe. But they are unfortunately made only with cylinders of -0.75 D and -1.25 D. They promise to expand the parameters in the future, but the question is when. Does anyone know anything about it? Thanks a lot.
Answers: I was just talking to the Ciba rep, and they don't know when and if the parameters will be expanded.
They will be available in the two other cyl powers in the US and Canada very shortly though.
It probably depends on the popularity of the lens as to whether they invest in expanding the powers available.
It sounds like you wear a 1.75 cyl yourself and are waiting for that to come out.
The cyl correction in a toric lens covers up to a 0.25 more than what it actually is...that is to say, a 1.25 cyl covers a 1.50 correction very well.
It is usually best to leave the cyl correction in contacts a bit weaker than your actual Rx anyway.
I have been fitting contacts for 37 years, and 9 times out of 10, a 1.25 cyl works great for an Rx that has 1.75 cyl.
It also depends on how much myopia is mixed in with that . If your myopia correction is higher than your cyl, you will easily get away with a smaller correction for the astigmatism.
It really depends on the demand of the range in the market. Maybe u can but it at online or use other brands like purevision toric.
