Sleeping problem??
Question: i have a problem sleeping early. i just started my sophmore year in college and i need to sleep early. as soon as i come home from school - 2:20 everyday, I instantly go to sleep and wake up at 8 pm WIDE awake. any solution?
Answers: If you need something to put you to sleep, there are several alternatives out there. You should try taking tylenol pm, alieve, or regular tylenol. They help to relax your muscles and usually help you to fall asleep. I have a very difficult time sleeping and sometimes those remedies don't work for me. Last night I didn't take anything and I seemed to sleep really well for once. I had a pretty good work-out yesterday so that could also be the reason. You should try working out. It usually helps you sleep better.
I believe the reason that I can't fall asleep though is because I have so much on my mind right now...college, leaving friends, the desire to succeed, and fear of failure. Maybe if you are able to trigger what worries you that is keeping you awake you can find a way to resolve it.
Valerian root is also an option.
It's only a problem if it interferes with your ability to do things you need to be doing. If it does interfere, then don't go home at 2:20. For a week or two, organise your schedule so you have things to do outside of the house for several hours, then when you get home, don't sit anywhere where you're likely to relax and fall asleep. Break your body's habit. You may only be able to extend your awake time by an hour every couple days, but stick with it until your schedule is more normal. When I was in college, I would take an afternoon nap while the kid I babysat watched cartoons. I accidentally trained my body to do this, to such an extent that I would instantly feel tired, the moment I heard the Chip 'n' Dale theme song, regardless of how alert I was when I got there, a few moments before.
