Problems sleeping any homemade solutions??
Question: can someone help i dont whant to take pills or count sheep
Answers: Lavender naturally enduces sleepiness. I would take a warm bath with lavender bath salts or bubbles, then lay in bed (with the tv off) read a book or magazine for about 20-30 minutes. I usually have a few lavender scented candles on while I'm reading and by the time I turn off the lamp, I'm down for the count.
I heard that placing lavender drops on your pillow is great too.
Read a book. As long as it's not terribly exciting, it puts me straight to sleep. Get classics like Dickens, Austen, Bronte, Joyce, Tolstoy, R.L.Stevenson, etc.
Chamomile tea or Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time tea. If that doesn't work you are probably going to need something a little stronger... like pharmaceuticals or running 10 miles.
I have three suggestions...
1. Finish the day...If you go to bed with a bunch of things left undone, then you mind will be still working on them when you are trying to shut it down. (I got that from the discovery channel)
2. Counting Sheep alone doesn't work, because it only works one side of your brain. It is actually better if you count from one to ten several times...each time you skip one number...ex. 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10. 2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10. 1.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10...etc. This will actually calm both sides of the brain and allow you to better relax. (Sleep Disorder Clinic at Edmond's Community College)
3. Finally, try a cup of Chamomile tea. There are many types, but make sure it doesn't have any caffeine in it. That kind of defeats the purpose.
***Don't do the warm milk thing because it will stimulate your digestive system keeping your body active.
Lavender or Chamomille teas,(caffiene free of course) listening to soft music such as classical, and using lavender aromatherapy products. They can usually be found at Bath and Body works. Maybe even consider using a memory foam mattress or mattress topper.
