Is it true that you survive 6 seconds after having your head chopped off??

Question: ok so my english teacher tells me that when uou were excuted the excucutoner would hold your head up and show your head to your body to let you know you were dead. she also told me that you survive for 6 seconds is it actually true because i thought you would die instantly .....if you do live for 6 seconds do you feel any pain?

You need to go to anatomy class and learn a little more about the human body. the headsman held up the head to show the public in view that he had done his job. In the early days of beheading they did not use gallows and catch your head in a basket. they used a dull axe and it often took more than one whack. It was not until Henry the 8th abolished the axe execution were the guillotines developed and it was found to be more humane because death was instant.

lets try i'll chop your head off and we'll see if you do, you may blink to let me know as your voice box will be gone so you wont be abble to talk,

so its one blink if your still alive and two if your not

no because you'll have nothing left to move blood through your body since your brain controls it.

p.s. the max anyone has stayed alive after their head was cut off is like 4 secs.

No... as soon as your head is cut off the blood stops flowing from the heart, all brain functions stop imediately, you black out instantly, and that's it.

how would any one really know b/c they would die and wouldn't be able to tell you. I believe you would be b/c of nervous but you wouldn't really know what is going on its like a lizards tail they can drop it and it will wiggle around like its alive but its just the nerves inside the tail twitching b/c they still have blood and energy levels built up.

How could it possibly be tested? It's not like we can sew your head back on, revive you and then ask you how your near death experience was can we?

You couldn't feel pain because your brain has the pain receptors and your head is cut off. Maybe your heart beats like a chickens..for a few secs.

There have been reports of the decapitated head moving it's eyes when their name was called immediately afterward.
Whether is is a reflex thing or conscious, no way to tell.
