How to swallow nasty pills??
Question: Does anyone have any advice for swallowing nasty pills? I have these metabolic liver pills that I take that are not only huge, which isn't the problem, but they taste and smell so disgusting I have to hold my breath just to open the bottle or I will start gagging. The bottle says to take one with 8oz of water, but the smell and taste is so rank I can't do it.
I tried it with juice, which is better, but I didn't know if there was any sort of trick I didn't know about?
Answers: maybe try taking them after eating something that is really rich and sweet. Basically something that has a lot of after taste that is left in your mouth. Definately don't even smell it when you open the bottle and hold your breath while you put it in your mouth so you don't have to smell it at all and finally just drink lots of water. Then eat something right afterwards to chase it down. Maybe that will help.
If you drink through a straw, it automatically opens up the back of your throat and pills go down easy.
If they are capsules, put your head down to swallow

And this is an easy method I use to take huge pills without really tasting anything:
I pop the pill in, and take two huge gulps of water to fill my mouth to full capacity. Then I lean my head back a little and swallow. It goes down on the first try!
When i have to drink something nasty holding my nose DOES help alot, so that might work, also try putting it as far back in your mouth as possible so you dont have to taste it so much.
take a bottle of water. and put the pill in your mouth. and drinking the water out of a bottle. the smell of the pills is not good. can you melt some chocalate and cover the pills to kill the smell.
take it with milk!! you will just be able to taste the milk not the nastyness of the pill!!
A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down in the most delightful way!
i usually fill my mouth with water, and then plop the pill in and swallow real fast. you only get a small taste, if any, in the throat. but it doesnt touch your tongue, which is where your taste buds are. as for the smell, open it away from you and then pour water in your mouth, pinch your nose, grab a pill, drop, and then swallow.
