Cortisone shot??

Question: Is it painful? and can it get rid of knee tendonits permanently?
Answers: I have had 4 cortisone shots in my knee and none of them helped at all. It is REALLY painful......I thought i broke the nurses hand with the first one! LOL I am a nurse too and it doesn't make it any easier. Some people do better than others, my dad had one and he was never in pain from it and he said that it did not hurt. I do not think that it will get rid of your tendinitis permanently
It can be very effective, however if you do not correct whatever problem caused the tendonitis, it will likely return. There are also risks with cortisone injections, such as evoltion fractures, although they are fairly rare.
I have had 3 Cortisone shots in my shoulder, Yes it does hurt, they put the needle right in the bone, bought tears to my eyes, the cortisone only lasted me 4 days, then pain started again, but it may be ok for you..everyone is different....Good Luck
I have heard that the procedure is painful, as I would expect that a needle entering my knee joint would be. I have also heard that the effects are good. Good Luck
