Solution to fissure in sole of foot??
Question: I have a deep split (Fissure) in the sole of my foot causing great pain. The spilt heals over and then splits open again. I can find no solution to healing this split - any ideas.
Answers: If you go barefoot or wear clog type shoes your feet cannot get enough moisture. Wear socks and enclosed shoes and this will clear up for you. It happened to me too.
Yes, it sounds like you might have something lodged deep in the foot where the split is occuring especially if it's healing over and then spliting again. Go to the doctor and let him examine and excise the area before you lose your foot to infection.

prescription and advice regarding the most appropriate moisturizer or emollient.
advice about footwear and self care of the problem.
insoles may be used to alter the way you walk to prevent the thick skin from developing (these are indicated in cases of heel callus and are not suitable for all cases).
a heel cup may be used to keep the fat pad from expanding sideways. This is worn in the shoe and can be very effective at prevention if used regularly.
on rare occasions some Podiatrists and Dermatologists have used a tissue 'glue' to hold the edges of the skin together, so the cracks can heal.
