Blood poisoning??
Question: hi, my nanna died on monday and i just found out today that she died of a urinary tract infection which caused blood poisoning. ive been looking it up for a couple of hours but cant find wot im looking for. i want to know if it is a painful condition?? i think she was asleep when she died as my grandad rolled her over in the morning and she took her last breath. would she have been in pain?? could she hav slept thru it?? also do u know how long she could have had the infection before it spread to her blood? sorry i just really need to kno. thanx
Answers: She died of gram negative sepsis secondary to her UTI. The weaker a patient is, the faster the infection moves from localized to generalized.
An urinary Tract infection should not be the cause of death. If left untreated it can and will effect the kidneys. Once the kidneys are infected the rest of the body brakes down - Your body may retain excess fluid and not make enough red blood cells. This is called kidney failure.
