Could it be??
Question: That Craig Heyward, Sam Mills & Reggie What Died from Steriod use?
They all died about the same age of steriod type illness.
Lyle Alzado died from Braid cancer as well.
It's mysterious how 3 healthy men just suddenly developed illness and soon afet died.
I often wonder what the real truth is.
Answers: I don't know what 'steriod type illness' or 'Braid cancer' means. Nor do I know who these people are.
Dear Ophiuchus;
This is a complicated question because of the subtleties of just how post-adolescent steroid use affects the body. Assuming they had taken Human Growth Hormone (like Serostim), we really don't yet know how our DNA strands may re-order themselves. As with many debilitating illnesses, steroid use is not a first resort treatment.
However, with any therapy, prolonged use of anything can and often does have adverse reactions (think of using one teaspoon of fertilizer on your houseplants -- one tablespoon could and possibly would kill them). It's called the Law of Diminishing Returns. The same holds true of medicines; i.e., 10 mg of Valium may ease a muscle-spasm, but 100 mg of the same substance can kill you.
If steroidal hormones are the triggers to turn on growth factors, it could very well, cause a tumor response; thus triggering brain cancer. In simple terms, a single series of radiation can cause cancer to go into remission, but repeated exposure to the same kind of radiation, both can and will create additional cancerous cells -- either in the same area or ultimately in different areas of the body.
In pro sports, where athletes are getting injured on a frequent basis, the temptation to take Lidocaine and Cortisone is an everyday possibility. But what happens the next day and the day after, when the pain returns? It's easy to simply shoot up the injured area again, but eventually, this causes the opposite desired effect.
I hope this helps.
