Mad cow disease??

Question: how is mad cow disease started? does it have to do with genetic modification?
Answers: It comes from a prion, which is a sort of infections protein. It is sort of like a cancer but a virus as well, I think.
It attacks the brain and spinal cord, that is why it can be transferred by eating that part.

No it has nothing to do with genetic modification. However, I think they are using gm to prevent against it.
bacially its cannibalism
You could always wikipedia it, but I think it all started from trying to feed cows other cows. They aren't carnivores, but their food is the recyled product of mamals, instead of giving them the more expensive, good vegetation that they are supposed to eat.

Just an opinion, I'm not too sure on all the facts. I do know once you have it, there is no cure.
