Should i drink coffee when i'm sick??

Question: Sore throat, runny nose and tired...that's why I want the coffee. Should I not drink coffee? Will it make my cold last longer? I am allergic to milk, so it is made with rice milk. I don't think that causes phlem..right?
Answers: Heck yes you can drink coffee! I could not live a day without coffee. I had the flu and still drank it. As for the sore throat it will help because it's warm. It mught make your nose run a little more because of the heat. If you want your nose to stop running try some clariton. It dries up the snot. Tired, it will deffianlty take care of that! One more thing the key rule is stay away from ALL DAIRY PRODUCTS. Rice milk isn't dairy.
Rice milk does not contain the fat of cows milk so the phlem effect will be less. However, if you are sick, a decaf tea wouls be better. The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant and may make the sore throat worse by making the tissue constrict. Also, if you are experiencing any dizziness which is common with colds or the flu, coffee may act as a trigger for the dizziness.
coffe is ok to keep you alert if you are going to work etc, so yes you can drink coffee, remember that many pain killers actually contain caffiene in them which is the active ingredient in coffee. however, it is not a very good idea if you are trying to get some rest, which you MUST do to get better when you feel ill, so dont go overboard with coffee and make sure you get good sleep
take care
