How can I loose weight??

Question: I'm about 6'0 and about a year ago I weighed about 170 pounds. Now I weigh 230 pounds!

I usually eat pretty healthily. For breakfast I might have a small bowl of Total or other healthy cereal with Skim or 1% milk. For lunch I'll usually have a salad with fat-free dressing. And for dinner I'll usually have just a regular, somewhat healthy dinner (my mom makes it). I get abut 50 minutes of exercise on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and about 1 1/2 hours on Wednesday. What am I doing wrong!?

PLEASE HELP!! I need some sort of plan to follow to help me loose weight! What should I do!?
Answers: figure out how many calories it would take for you to be at the weight you want,, then start eating that amount, no more.
Here's what I have always been told,, not sure how accurate it is. For a person that active, they would burn around 14 calories per pound per day. So if you wanted to weigh 170 pounds and maintain that weight,, you'd need 14x170 or 2380 calories per day. (13 calories per pound if not very active and 12 calories per pound if you just sit)
Count your calories,, it would take 3200 calories a day to maintain your 230 lbs.
um..exercise..and the only thing you can eat is cabbage and water...no snacks or anything..
i lost 15lbs in 5 days

1)jogging every morning (haw far? depends on your stamina)
2)tae bo 5 times a week (1hr)
3)hot yoga twice a week (1hr 30mins - to strech and relax your muscles from tae bo and jogging)

eat healthy and drink at least 80 ounces of water a day.

eating jalapenos and taking 3 table spoons of apple cider vinegar will boost your metabolism!

-i feel toned and really healthy =)
trust me, this WILL work!
WORKOUT!! Walk the dog, go on a run with your friend, go on walks, join a sport, and go to the gym. But don't make yourself to skinny
just eat smaller meals watch portions and only eat what grow es from trees or comes up out of the ground and nothing else the weight will come off natural with out all that exercise u will be amazed
Maybe it's the weight of musceles or bones. do u have a flabby stomach?
I would suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of toxins. Toxins come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The toxins get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the toxins by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, and Medifast. If you want to learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. This was the first time I ever did a cleanse, it was easy and I feel better. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://thebestcleansingdiet.com
You need to do three things.
One start writing down every morsel of food you put into your mouth. People always think they are eating well. But forget about the cookie they ate in the lunchroom or the chips they munched on while making dinner. If you have time to eat it, you have time to write it down.
Two. Eat less more often. A good idea is to plan your breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. Put it all togather and eat just one item from it every couple hours throughout the day. For instance I eat my coffee at 6am, orange at 8am, half PB sandwhich at 10am, apple at noon, etc.
Three. Look at your exercise. Try and get in an hour of cardio 3-4 times a week. Light weight training is also important to help burn more calories while at rest.

If you looked at both those things and still feel that you are doing nothing wrong, have your doc check your thyroid. A weight gain of 60 lbs in one year is truely signigicant.

And I forgot. The food you are eating should be low in calories and fat. High in fiber. Look at your labels!

Good Luck!!
is it muscle or fat?
I think that you are in starvation mode. Having only a garden salad (deficient in carbs and protein) on an empty stomach is functionally the same as skipping a meal (in your case, lunch).

Try this approach instead:
Eat 6 small but balanced meals per day. Your carbs should be high in fiber and your proteins should be lean. Fats should be sparing but concentrated in the omega 3's and omega 6's. This will provide a slow but constant stream of vital nutrients. Avoid greasy foods, alcohol, and candy.

Lift weights or perform power yoga because either of these will slightly increase your lean mass, which will burn extra calories 24 hours per day. This will increase your resting metabolic rate. Also, some cardio helps.

Use a measuring tape instead of a scale to measure your progress because it is more accurate than the scale.

Here is a healthy foods list, a sample meal plan, and a workout plan.

You've got to drink more water, exercise more, and eat less. I don't know what your Mom's feeding you for dinner, but I have a feeling it's got way too much butter and calories. So eat less dinner, and go to bed just a little bit hungry. You'll feel great in the morning!! Good luck to you.
Get a friend and sign up for a membership at a gym. go there at least 3 days a week for about an hour a time and workout at the challenging machines.
