5'8 and 175 lbs??

Question: Im 19, 5'8 and 175 lbs and a medium build, i want to lose roughly 20-30 pounds. I eat very healthy, the 5-6 proportionate meals a day, drink nothing but water and take calcium pills because milk makes me sick. I just started jogging around my neighborhood this past week for 45 minutes a day, is there anything else i could be doing that isn't time consuming (i'm a student and have a full time job) and how long do you think it would take me to lose my goal a healthy way? Any suggestions appreciated...no sarcasm please.
Answers: Per your height, weight and age, I think you only need to lose 10-15 lbs to get healthy look. 30lbs are a bit too much and might get you look too thin (& not healthy-look too)!

For your current workout and diet, I think they are ok but I would not take too many calcium pills although they said they are good supplements to health. But do you know you also need moderate sun light in order to get your body to convert the vitamin D you intake into calcium ? So, you may want to jog in day time. The time well before the sunset would be ideal to avoid the heavy ultra light from the sun. I do medium-speed walking myself for at least an hour at every evening and do some jogging in between to exercise my lung. If you have a medium build, why do you want to lose 20-30 pounds?

Jogging might help build muscles, but exercise doesn't shed weight. And while you can achieve short term weight loss through dieting, the long term result is weight *gain*.

The only thing I see missing from your life is a romantic interest. That can be a great stress-reliever, which is important, because the life of a student working his way through college is a fairly stressful one.

Take it slow and careful, though. Romantic difficulties can make the whole thing worse.
I used to be kind of fat as well. The way I lost weight was by eating a bit healthier, and exercising regularly. I'd play some kind of sport outside with friends almost daily, usually basketball. And I'd do Sit-Ups/Crunches at home as well, which burns the fat in your stomach.
Honestly, it's a lot easier than most people say it is. Just make sure you keep healthy and exercise daily. And when I say exercise, I don't mean inside with AC and a fan on. I mean, outside with the sun shining on you, so you can sweat, which makes you burn fat.
Good luck.
YOU JUST STARTED. Expect results in about 90 days. Its a life time commitment. I get up at 5am to work out and I got a family and work, so if I don't have any excuses, neither do you!

My drill sergeant answer to you is:

No junk food. Keep exercising. No dairy? YAY!

No white flower products, no non fat products.

Raw fruits and vegetables are to be included in your 6 to 7 daily meals. Replace bread with Ezekiel bread.

Replace white rice brown rice etc.

Keep going, don't quit as its a life style commitment and as long as you know its not temporary, you will make it.
It sounds to me like you are already doing all the right things. The best way to lose weight is actually to do it fairly slowly, because that means you're making small changes you are far more likely to be able to sustain for the rest of your life. A pound a week is usually the recommended rate.

If you can fit it into your schedule, I'd highly recommend that you add in some strength training -- muscle burns more calories than fat does even when it is sitting still, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn when you're just lying around doing nuthin'. Always a plus. You should be able to fit in a few squats here and there during the day, a round of push-ups during commercials while watching TV, some stomach crunches while you're chatting on the phone with someone. If you can fit in a Pilates class once a week, that would be even better. You can also find lots of strength-training videos at your local public library, which could help you learn a few moves you could then do on your own down the line.

All in all, it sounds like you are well on your way to a healthier body. Good for you! I wish you all the best of luck!
Just keep up with what you're doing. The fatter you are the eaisier it is to lose weight. The closer you are to the target weight range, the harder it gets to lose weight.
Your BMI is 26.6 and who knows you might even be at the target weight. BMI takes muscle weight into its calculations.
if you really want to lose your weight, don't worry.exercise daily with some hard workouts ,drink fresh jucies.if you want more details view the website
