Do vitamins work??

Question: I am not completely dependent on vitamins, but they give me an extra boost when it comes to my nutrients. I drink on average 2-3 cups of milk a day, which nearly gives me all of my calcium and vitamin D I need for growth (I am almost 16). Are vitamins good for you or is it true that most of it is not actually absorbed by the body but gone to waste?
Answers: You're going to hear a lot of opinions on this... most questions about the effectiveness of vitamins get a good number of both yes and no answers.

The truth is that yes... they DO work for many, many, many people. We get thousands of orders daily for various vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other supplements, and more than half the calls I get have people telling me how much this vitamin or that herb has done for them.

Some supplements give energy, some help relax, some cleanse, some help workouts, some help any particular part of the body (lungs, heart, skin, bones, etc), and I could go on for hours. Ultimately, different people respond differently to different supplements, so some people might not see the level of results that the bottles say (which is usually what makes people naysayers ).

That being said, the most ideal way to get all your nutrition is from your diet, but I think maybe only 2-3 people on the planet Earth actually CAN get all of their nutrition (and I mean ALL of it) from their diet. However, it would take a perfectly balanced diet, buying everything organic (or growing it yourself), and putting a lot of time and effort that most people don't want to spend.

They are intended to be supplemental (meaning not your sole source of nutrition, just something to help your diet). If you're already getting sufficient milk (with the vitamins A and D), you should be careful about your Calcium, Vit A and D because you shouldn't get too much of any of those 3.
Also, the best way to take supplements is typically in a capsule or softgel (tablets take long enough to digest that some people don't get the full benefit of them)... it's not usually better to open them up and drink them (you may actually get less benefit that way).
Yes you need a good multivitamin every day. Be sure the brand you take is one that is well absorbed by the body. If youare not sure then research it on the web to find out.
Yes,vitamins do work.
vitamins works but is not a food supply
Steroids work. I'm as mad as a fox. Jk. Not! Jk again. Well, they work if ya get the right kind!
if you want to grow hair on your chest and have your voice deepen when you grow up, you are going to need to keep eating vitamins
Vitamins are good........ depends on what u take... and if you dont want to take vitamins look for fruits or veggies that will give you the same results!
It is my understanding that vitamins make up for what you don't get in your diet. A lot of the vitamin you take may not be absorbed by your body in time to benefit from it.

Vitamin B is used up faster when you're under stress, hence, a multiple B vitamin may be a good one to take if there is a lot of stress in your life.

Most of us don't eat enough vegetables and fruits, so taking a vitamin daily probably isn't a bad idea.

If in doubt, take one daily. It won't hurt you and it may help.
well i can tell you --when i take them i do seem to feel better at the end of the day. vitamins are worth every penny...
i would take a multi vitamin and eat a protein rich diet -
at that age you should not rely on milk for anything....btw - calcium is hard for a human body to absorb from cow milk.

It's hard for your body to absob vitamins in pill form, so it's better for you to get it from your food. If you do buy vitamins, grind them up and put them in your milk. That'll make them easier for your body to absorb.
I suspect that the latter is largely true, but who really knows?
Don't bother buying vitamins. Spend your money on good food and develop healthy eating habits. Yes it's true a lot of vitamins are simply pee'd out before they do much good. That's why you should take them just before bed..if you take them.
