Answers: Jimmy, we are responsible for 90% of our health so we need to be educated about nutrition. Basically your fruits, vegetables, and herbs are like medicine. You should get a library of books that teach you about their uses. Timing is important also. Don't eat heavy late snacks after 6:00 PM. And a good protein breakfast is important. You need to drink lots of water and no soda pop. I like to mix fruit juice 50-50 with my water. Use honey instead of sugar. Deuteronomy 8 lists some good foods you should eat. There's a lot to learn so get started and keep at it. You'll save a lot on medical expenses if you do it right yourself. It takes awhile so be patient and it will come. You must also keep active to keep the weight down so find a lot of things to help sweat out toxins and build muscle tone.
First, the best person to answer the question of how much you should weigh is your personal doctor. There are a lot of charts but they are very generic and don't take into account your specific body type nor your heredity.
The best weight loss program out there (and over 60 years I have tried them all) is the Weight Watcher program. Costs ten dollars a week but is well worth it. At your current weight you will begin at a specific food amount intake and as you loose weight, the amount of food reduces. The meetings you attend each week are very supportive.
Since you are probably a male, as am I, you should be aware that the meetings are attended mostly by women. Don't let that put you off. They will be very envious (in a nice way) of the amount of weight you loose as males tend to loose much faster than women.
One other point I want to make. I never ever felt hungry while using the Weight Watcher's program and at times had to force myself to eat the amount of food I was suppose to eat. The program teaches you how to eat for the rest of your life and there is literally nothing you can't eat on the program.
I am 5' 11 and at the time I started the WW program, I weighed 334 Lbs. I dropped 125 Lbs. to get to where my doctor said I should be.
The stretch marks really aren't stretch marks although that is what they look like. They are caused by a mineral difficiency in your diet. They will lighten and eventually shrink to look like small scars. You will have some loose skin initially. However at your age, your skin has not lost its natural elasticity and you will , with exercise (which is part of the WW program) loose the excess skin.
Good luck
Set your goal to lose 75 to 100 pounds.
Recent studies have shown that the best diet for weight loss is a vegan diet. This means only fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and nuts, and no animal products -- milk, eggs, cheese, fish or chicken.
With your size, there is a very strong possibility that you also have diabetes or insulin resistance. if this is the case, then it would be better for you to avoid eating fruits and concentrate on eating vegetables, beans and whole grains. This can be a challenge if you are used to eating a lot of meat. However, you don't have to limit yourself to eating only salads. Steamed vegetables with onions, garlic and lemon are pretty good. Stir fried (sauted with water, not oil) vegetables can be eaten with brown rice. You will get the best results if you eat only 2 meals a day; food is for giving the body energy, but you don't need energy to sleep. Do not eat any snacks.
Drink only water between your meals. All soft drinks and sport drinks are associated with weight gain, so avoid them.
Don't forget to exercise. Start slowly by walking 20 to 30 minutes each day. As your strength and endurance increase, you can walk longer, or begin weight training on a regular basis. The exercise will help to ensure that your skin will not sag too much.
I don't have a good solution for your stretch marks, but as you lose weight, they will become less noticeable.
I used to think that I would die without a dead animal to eat, but I haven't had one in almost 15 years. I supervise a medical center where we focus on the natural methods of health care.
