What should I do??

Question: MY daughter and son have a neurological disorder that makes them sensitive to light, sound and touch. All of these elements are present at the dentist. They hate the dentist and their teeth are bad. What can I do? When I have taken them in the past the dentist say that they cannot be seen because of there behavior.

HElp please.
Answers: Have you considered taking them to a pediatric dentist. These are dental specialist that not only treat children but special needs situations. Most pedo offices have quiet rooms which are away from the general patient population and could possibly control the environment to suit the needs better for your children. They are also trained in various sedation techniques to aid the experience for the patient. Good Luck with your difficult situation.
FIND a Pedodontist in your area, a dentist who specializes in Children's Dentistry.....they will aid in decision on what kind of approach to make. Sedation dentistry etc.. I drive over an hour to get to an Awesome Pedodontist. It is worth it.
The Paediatric / Paedodontic or Oral Surgery department at your nearest dental hospital should be able to help...your dentist should (must?) arrange for a referral for your kids to be seen by someone who is more able to cope with the needs.

If visits to the dentist are going to be less frequent than you would like, make sure that they are brushing twice a day for 2 minutes with a fluoride containing toothpaste, receiving fluoride supplements where appropriate and cutting down on the frequency of sugar-containing foods.
Try a pediatric dentist - they tend to specialize in this stuff.

And in the meantime, make sure that they are keeping their teeth practically immaculate. Brush for 2 minutes twice a day, fluoride toothpaste, fluoride rinse, etc etc. This way, even if they don't go to the dentist, there's a pretty good chance that their teeth'll be OK.
