Is teeth grinding a lifetime disorder??

Answers: I hope not! I've noticed I've been doing it since my mid-twenties, but I was able to deal with the dull pain. In the past six months, though, a filling came out of one of my molars and then a molar on the other side actually cracked! My dentist repaired both, but said it was due to my grinding, as were the cavities developing from all the wear and tear on my teeth enamel. So next month I'm getting fitted for a mouthguard to wear when I sleep.
no and it can be prevented by buying a nightime mouth guard ....you can purchase them at walmart,or any other department store as such.they are kinda like the mouth guards that athletes wear but are more comfortable and you only wear them while you sleep,so if you or someone you know has a teeth-grinding problem,i would advise that they get one, just trying to give good advice as a dental assistant.
i think this particular disorder is related to stress and anxiety and so i think, unfortunately, it would be an infliction for life. sometimes it is realted to other stress disorders such as headaches. there are mouth guards you can buy to protect your teeth and minimise the effects of it. other than that, maybe try to seek the source of what makes you grind you teeth.
It's usually a sign of depression or emotional problems. Dreaming of teeth crumbling and falling out is the same. It's a sign that our emotions are trapped inside and want to get out. Once you learn to let out your emotions it should stop.x
No, but it is more common in children while sleeping.
I think it's more of a habit than a disorder. If you want to control it, there are special mouth guards you can buy. If you're grinding your teeth in your sleep, try sleeping in a different position than what you're used to.
yes. wear guard.
its not a habbit but a mental disorder. seek help or you will loose all your teeth.
No, eventually your teeth will grind down and you can wear false teeth... my GF did it and was so happy when they gave her new false teeth, she can't believe the difference!

I arranged them for her 19th birthday as a suprise.
not if youre wearing dentures
that's my problem too....it's been my habit, i dunno if it's a habit really, but ever since, i do grind my teeth while sleeping.....i had my braces recently, and when i sleep at night, i still grind my teeth, damn, it hurts to hell...someone told me to go to my dentist and ask about mouthguard, he said it will help a lot...
