What is the normal price for (a cleaning around the gums)??
Question: I forgot the name of the cleaning but im being charged 200 and insurance doesn't cover it that doesn't sound normal to me!
Answers: If it's scaling & root planing than $200 is cheap!! Our dental office charges almost $800 for this cleaning (this is where the have to break it up into 2 isits because they need to get you numb). It could also be a full mouth debridement & we charge $120 for this. This when you have lots of tarter build up & the hygienist needs to work a little bit harder than a regular cleaning. They generally need to break this up into 2 appointments as well, but usually no numbing is needed. A regular cleaning is around $60 & is for folks that go in for dental cleaning every 6 months to a year. Hope this answers your questions.
it does sound a little too much expensive
, get dental care next time
4 bucks buy a tooth brussh and use its back it wrks great
If it's simply a prophlactic (prophy) cleaning and superficial, it depends among dentists and this may be slightly higher than the average dentist would charge (though it depends on your area)--however, if you have dental insurance this is usually one of the standard things covered.
If it's a deep cleaning (often called scaling and root planing), this involves numbing the areas up and is more invoved. This is not always covered by insurance but $200 for a full mouth of this deep cleaning is a bargain.
