Anaesthesia During Wisdom Tooth Removal??
Question: During the wisdom tooth removal, can the dentist put me to sleep during the procedure? Or do I have to be awake while it's happening?
Answers: One week ago tomarrow i had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted. Along with that i had 2 molars extracted to prepare for braces. I wasn't given a choice by my oral surgeon. I just did it his way. I was given laughing gas and put to sleep. I would recommend this way to anyone. The laughing gas will help relax you and if you're like me you certainly don't want to be awake during the procedure. Good luck.
I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed under general anesthetic (put to sleep) several years ago. It was done in an outpatient hospital however not in a dentist office.
I had 2 removed with just a local, It was quick and easy. Maybe 5 minutes or less a tooth. If you have anxiety about it get some ativan from your doc.
Ativan keeps you from having anxiety for procedures. I use it for all my dental work. (I LOATHE dentists)
Yes If Thats What You Want. Why Do You Think You Need Laughing Gas. Are You Scared? Be A Man Tough It Out.
If you see an oral surgeon you will have the option of whether or not to be IV sedated.
THE DENTIST CAN USE GAS OR OTHER ANAESTHESIA TO MAKE YOU COMFORTABLE DURING THE PROCEDURE. GOING UNDER GENERAL ANAESTHESIA IS UNREASONABLE BECAUSE OF RISKS ENVOLVED IN THE USE OF THOSE DRUGS. NOT TO MENTION RECOVERY IS ALWAYS MUCH FASTER WITHOUT IT. IT REALLY ISN'T THAT BAD. I HAD ALL 4 OF MINE TAKEN OUT AT THE SAME TIME. IT WAS A PIECE OF CAKE. YOU WILL BE SORE FOR A FEW DAYS AFTER, BUT THEY GENERALLY GIVE YOU SOMETHING FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT. BE SURE TO PREPARE FOR THE MEALS IN THE DAYS TO FALLOW LIKE SOUPS AND SOFT FOODS. GOOD LUCK !
It really depends on how 'serious' it will be to remove them. They can put you to sleep, however it will take you longer to 'come out of it' and you'll probably need someone to drive you home. You can be awake and be on nitrous oxide, which makes you not care that you're awake during the procedure. If you're concerned...talk to your dentist about your options. If they're impacted (havn't broken the skin yet) yes, you will be put under. They give you a shot and believe me, you will be out before you can say three words. You'll wake up so distorted and tired, you'll have to have help walking. Your mouth will feel like the size of a watermelon! If they're not impacted, they generally won't put you all the way under. Good luck, it sucks!
I was put to sleep, but my wisdom teeth removal was a pretty big deal, since all 4 of mine were impacted.
Usually, if being put to sleep isn't necessary, dentists/doctors don't like to do it, but you can ask if you can be put to sleep.
You dont have to be awake if you dont want to be. I chose to have anesthesia because I didnt want to deal with it. It's a personal choice, if you dont want to be awake, then that's your decision.
I worked in a dental office and some people chose to be under total anesthesia and others were completely awake for the same procedure. It's a personal choice and dont let anyone tell you that you cant do it the way you want. Your emotional health is what is most important in this case.
Laughing Gas, then the shot. Its great!! Definately they almost always knock you out!!
DONT NEED TO HAVE FULL ANAESTHESIA , PARTIAL ANAETHESIA AROUND UR WISDOM TEETH AREA WILL BE ADMINSITERED
