What is an alternative to Spinal Decompression Therapy that I can do myself at home??
Answers: There are a few ways to go with this. First, there's the turtle back support (link below). It's an odd brace, but after you use it for 10 minutes you can really feel the joints opening up.
Why do you need Decompression? Did your Doc tell you it was necessary?
Be careful if you try the inversion table, a lot of people hurt themselves using it. Especially if they go for the 'full inversion' right off the bat. They aren't as effective as you would think, just as the last poster wrote. Good luck with your spine, if none of the above works try you chiropractor for flexion/distraction. It is probably the best type of traction you can have. Take care
Buy an inversion table. It will allow you to hang upside down at home and decompress.
Search on eBay for an over door traction device or set. You'll get a few and they are good for what ails you.
I have two myself and only have to use them once or twice a month for my neck problems.
Medical studies indicate that spinal surgery doesn't make much difference in the long run (about 2 years later they're all the same basically).
If you have patience and can put up with the pain, exercise and stretching will work just as well in the long run, plus possibly a traction machine of some kind.
Chiropractic treatments will help a lot too, possible flexion distraction of some kind.
Pushups and crunch situps and dips with your back against a chair are the things that help my back the most! (3 times of each as many as you can reasonabley do).
Good luck.
a simple device which allows traction (Spinal Decompression) at home. Either a physical therapist or chiropractor can supply you with one. Inversion table is ok but you cannot invert a sufficient length of time to do your disc problem any good
