I need advice about natural hormones??
Question: Does anybody know about natural hormones? brands or any advise for hormonal supplements? please help!!
Answers: The site below is very informative;
What kind of hormone supplement are you wanting info on? I have pituatary gland failure, so I take several hormone replacements. I take synthetic thyroid and estrogen, I also take natural...bioidentical testosterone. I can tell you anything over the counter does not work. The bioidenticals seem to be better, because they only pass through the liver once. Whereas synthetic pass through the liver twice, which can be hard on the liver. Synthetic estrogen has been proven to cause cancer in long term use. Unfortunately there is not enough studies on bioidenticals hormones to know if they will have the same effect. Bioidenticals are suppose to be identical to what our bodies make naturally, so the thought is they are absorbed easier by our bodies, whereas synthetics have to be broken down. I've just started the synthetic estrogen, because of cost reasons. I can get it at Walmart for $4.00, the bioidenticals run about 50. However if you have insurance they can be covered. I don't have insurance, so I had to chose the cheap route. When I do get insurance I will be switching to bioidentical. I use a compound pharmacy in Wisconsion you can check them out at www.womenshealth.com. I hope this helps. If you have any questions you can email me at emeraldtf on yahoo. Good luck.
